About – Fight For NYCHA
Fight For NYCHA is a collective of tenants, activists, artists, and advocates, who oppose the announcement by Mayor Bill de Blasio (D-New York City) to put one-third of NYCHA into the hands of private landlords. The proposal would transfer 62,000 public housing apartments, involve the private sector development of open spaces between buildings, and the sale of air rights to certain participants in the real estate industry. The plans were reaffirmed when Mayor de Blasio settled a Federal investigation into the physical condition standards of public housing.
Fight For NYCHA rejects Mayor de Blasio’s proposed sale, because the money exists to save NYCHA without having to resort to selling public housing.
We just have to change our priorities.
